Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19)
I
Lord Jesus Christ, send your Spirit to encourage women facing unexpected or difficult pregnancies, and to inspire your people to provide these women and their families aid in their need. Bless the unborn children whose lives are threatened. May their undeniable presence as human persons in the womb be recognized by all. We pray for the conversion of doctors and nurses who perform abortions, and for political leaders and activists who promote them. May their hearts may be turned to become true servants of health and the common good. Lord Jesus, we pray for healing in women and men who are in pain because of abortion. By your grace, may they seek and receive your Mercy. Amen.
II
Lord God, Heavenly Father, Creator of all things, you breathe Spirit and life into every human at conception. Show us how to stop the horror of abortion on demand, the devastation it has reaped for a generation, and the insidious way it has become an “acceptable ‘choice’” to so many. Open the minds of all that they may see clearly the enemy’s lies and the truth that life is gift from you to be cherished.
Lord, Jesus, open our hearts to a fervent loving care of every woman facing an unplanned or difficult pregnancy. Help us walk compassionately with them, especially with those who had felt forced to choose abortion, knowing no other way. We pray for all who suffer the consequences of abortion and ask you to embrace them with your love and help them realize that you always forgive those who earnestly seek mercy. Break the chain of guilt in those who have repented and revive in them an unfettered openness to joy in their lives by knowing you.
Lord God, Holy Spirit of God, inspire in us a desire to care generously for women and families and opportunities to do so. Remember always the unborn who are unwanted and tossed aside. You have the power to change hearts. Be a light in their darkest moments and permit those considering abortion to see there are other ways.
Lord Jesus, King, by whose Holy Name all things are possible, we pray for our governmental leaders to enact laws that close the doors to abortion and renew an openness to children and families. Amen.
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that You have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice not just for some, but for all, through Christ our Lord.
Amen!
